The Creation Of “Frank” The Baggage Handler

Frank is constructed out of a metal rebar frame that is then covered and filled will plaster. The finished work is sealed with S1 epoxy that is UV and weather resistant. The final coat is a conservator’s wax.

The trademark-clenched fist of the left hand was originally intended to be open. This changed after the artist received a phone call from the mayors office requesting that the central figure be clothed work be clothed. This would have meant a full body re sculpt – so the artist compromised and promised to cover the genitalia upon installation. A metal plate was then used for this purpose.
